Why are we holding focus groups?

Canada’s Drug Agency, on behalf of the Advisory Panel on Newborn Screening, is looking for input on the draft guidance on newborn screening published in our discussion paper. In addition to an online consultation, we are hosting focus groups to hear diverse perspectives on key areas in the draft guidance. We are seeking input on the draft guidance from key interested parties, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis.

What will happen during the focus group sessions?

• We will provide background and context on the work of the Advisory Panel for Newborn Screening, focusing on the draft guiding principles for newborn screening and draft criteria for deciding whether to add a condition to a proposed future pan-Canadian newborn screening list.
